US Cracks Down on Immigration Applications
The US has introduced stricter immigration rules, allowing the USCIS to reject visa and green card applications that are incomplete or lack required evidence. This change, which took effect immediately, aims to strengthen the integrity of the immigration system and reduce frivolous benefit requests.
The revised guidance states that applicants must establish their eligibility for an immigration benefit at the time of filing. If an application is deemed incomplete or lacks required documents, officers may deny the request without issuing a Request for Evidence (RFE) or a Notice of Intent to Deny (NOID).
The USCIS has said its policy aligns with the regulatory authority of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), enabling applicants to submit complete requests at the time of filing. The agency also notes that this change will help allocate resources more efficiently, speed up case processing, and reduce meritless applications.
