US Delivers First New Boeing Chinook Helicopters to Egypt
The US has delivered its first new Boeing CH-47F Chinook heavy-lift helicopter to Egypt as part of a plan to modernize Cairo's fleet. The delivery was announced by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo on September 17, marking another step in the expansion of commercial and defense cooperation between the two countries.
The embassy congratulated Boeing, the US Army, and the Egyptian Ministry of Defense on the handover, describing it as 'another concrete example' of the growing partnership between Washington and Cairo. The CH-47F is the latest production version of Boeing's twin-rotor Chinook transport helicopter, designed to carry troops, equipment, and heavy cargo.
Egypt is acquiring 12 of these helicopters to strengthen its heavy-lift capability, which has relied on earlier variants of the platform. The delivery marks the start of Egypt's transition to the newer version of the aircraft.
