US DOD Signs Framework Agreements to Boost SM-3 Interceptor Production
The US Department of Defense has signed framework agreements with Boeing and RTX to increase production of critical components for the SM-3 Block IB and Block IIA interceptors.
The two seven-year deals will allow Boeing to produce avionics and ejector assemblies while the parties negotiate a multi-year production award, worth up to billions of dollars.
Vice President of Boeing Precision Engagement Systems Bob Ciesla said, 'This gives us a clear demand signal to build and deliver SM-3 interceptors at the levels needed to counter threats.'
The increased production supports the administration's 'Arsenal of Freedom' initiative and the department's strategy to accelerate the delivery of critical defense capabilities.
