US Grants Visas for High-Level Iranian Delegation Amid Ongoing Tensions
A high-level delegation from Iran will attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York next week. The State Department has granted entry visas for Iran's core delegation, which includes President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The delegation will be subject to movement restrictions and a ban on purchasing luxury goods during their visit. This is the first time an Iranian president has received a visa since the US and Iran went to war.
It's worth noting that this approval comes despite ongoing tensions between the two countries, including disagreements over the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear program.
