US Manufacturing Boom: Amazon, Pirelli, and U.S. Steel Lead the Charge
Several major companies are investing heavily in new manufacturing facilities across the United States. Amazon is planning to spend over $100 million on a robotics factory in Greenwood, Indiana, which will create 300 jobs and produce equipment for its fulfillment centers.
The 585,000-square-foot facility will house advanced fabrication, robotic welding, automated powder coating, and assembly under one roof, supported by Amazon Web Services and artificial intelligence systems. This investment adds to Amazon's growing robotics footprint, with over 1 million robots manufactured in Massachusetts so far.
Another notable investment comes from Pirelli, which is expanding its manufacturing facility in Rome, Georgia, with a $1.2 billion investment that will create 1,000 jobs. The expansion will take place in two phases, with the first phase focusing on adding robotics equipment and the second phase introducing traditional manufacturing processes.
U.S. Steel is also investing in new facilities, breaking ground on a $475 million quench and tempering facility in Fairfield, Alabama. This investment will create 250 jobs and support construction until 2029.
