US Military Transport Plane Lands in Moscow Amid Ongoing Tensions

A US Air Force Boeing C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft has landed in Moscow's Vnukovo airport, marking the first direct flight by a US plane to Russia since January. The aircraft arrived from Riga, Latvia, where it had previously departed from Washington, DC's Camp Springs airbase.

The flight tracking service Flightradar24 showed that the C-17 Globemaster, with tail number 07-7181, landed in Moscow around 9:00 a.m. local time on Tuesday. The plane's arrival is significant as it follows a period of heightened tensions between the US and Russia.

The last direct flight of a US-registered jet to Russia from Europe took place in January, carrying special envoys Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner for peace talks with Vladimir Putin on Ukraine. However, it's unclear if the C-17 Globemaster carried any cargo or passengers during its latest visit.
