US Sanctions Threaten ICC Operations: Microsoft Ends Cooperation

Microsoft has ended its cooperation with the International Criminal Court (ICC) due to US plans to impose broad sanctions on the institution.

Gert-Jan Alexander Knops, a leading defense lawyer at the ICC, stated that the US sanctions could seriously disrupt the court's operations and affect ongoing investigations, court proceedings, and daily activities.

The planned restrictions could impact not only the institution itself but also its employees and contractors, including access to bank cards, international travel, financial transactions, and digital services.

According to Knops, possible protective measures by the European Union would not necessarily eliminate the risks for financial institutions and private companies cooperating with the ICC.
