The US stock market experienced a decline on Monday due to rising oil prices and uncertainty about artificial intelligence (AI) investments. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.54% to 52,291.66, while the S&P 500 Index dropped by 0.80% to 7,595.97.

The Nasdaq Composite Index was hit the hardest, down 1.03% to 26,061.19, as investors became cautious about AI-related stocks and chip makers. The price of crude oil surged above $104 per barrel, exacerbating inflation concerns.

AI executives' calls for a slower pace of advanced AI development unsettled chip investors, causing shares in Nvidia to fall by 3.7%. Intel shares lost close to 6% towards the end of trading, while AMD, Micron, and SanDisk also declined.
