The US stock market saw a downturn on Tuesday due to a combination of factors. The technology sector experienced heavy selling pressure, while geopolitical tensions in the Middle East escalated, pushing international oil prices higher.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 184 points, or 0.34%, to 53,791.85. In contrast, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index bucked the trend, rising 104.61 points, or 0.87%, to 12,098.47.

Nvidia's announcement of a partnership with six major asset management firms to raise over $500 billion for artificial intelligence infrastructure failed to boost its shares, which closed down 0.02%. Intel's expanded fundraising plan from $15 billion to $20 billion also failed to lift the sector as a whole.
