US Stocks Fall Amid Tech Sell-Off and Rising Treasury Yields
The US stock market ended Tuesday in negative territory as the Dow-30, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Composite indices all fell. The decline was led by tech giants Apple, Tesla, and Qualcomm, which lost 2.7%, 1.3%, and 1.8% respectively. Rising U.S. Treasury yields also weighed on stocks, with the 10-Year Treasury Notes Yield hitting its highest level since at least 2007.
Other notable losers included IonQ Inc, IREN Ltd, and Palantir, which fell by 1.5%, 0.8%, and 0.3% respectively. On the other hand, several tech stocks that are tied to artificial intelligence development saw gains, including Bloom Energy, Corning, Oracle, and SpaceX.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 131.59 points (0.3%) to a 51,349.92 finish, while the S&P 500 Index shed 12.85 ticks (0.2%) to 7,670.84. The Nasdaq Composite Index gave up 22.84 points (0.1%) to 26,797.54.
