US Stocks Rebound on Rumors of Iran Sanctions Relief
US stocks closed lower on Monday despite a rebound in the morning after reports emerged that Donald Trump was open to offering sanctions relief to Iran. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.67% to close at 51,481.51, while the S&P 500 shed 0.77% to finish at 7,7683.69.
Oil prices and Treasury yields moved higher amid continued tensions in the Middle East, with international benchmark Brent crude ending the session up 1.71% at $106.10 a barrel.
Nvidia bucked the trend among tech stocks, rising 1.7% after announcing plans to expand its share buyback programme by $150bn.
