US Stocks Rise on Technology Sector Gains

The US stock market closed Thursday on an upswing, led by gains in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Oil & Gas sectors.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.20%, with notable performers including Salesforce Inc., which jumped 22.58% to $252.05, NVIDIA Corporation, adding 8.74% to end at $227.98, and International Business Machines, up 3.88% to $238.79.

The worst performers were McDonald's Corporation, down 2.57% to $260.06, Walt Disney Company, declining 2.57% to $106.82, and Merck & Company Inc., down 2.33% to $149.54.
