The US Department of War has announced two major framework agreements with Boeing and RTX to boost production of key components for the Standard Missile-3 Block IB (SM-3 IB) and Block IIA (SM-3 IIA).

The agreements will strengthen the production of critical ship-fired surface-to-air interceptors that underpin the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System.

According to Michael P. Duffey, Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment, 'These agreements ensure our Warfighters get the munitions they need to win.'

The production of SM-3 Block IIA and Block IB will accelerate under these new frameworks, with Boeing driving component manufacturing.
