USPS and Amazon Launch Same-Day Delivery Pilot
The U.S. Postal Service and Amazon have launched a pilot program for same-day delivery of Amazon packages via USPS, expanding services and options for customers.
Through this initiative, Amazon packages brought into the Postal Service's network between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. local time are sorted by clerks and delivered by city mail carriers between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. the same day.
The pilot is currently underway at two facilities: Morgantown, West Virginia, and Lake Havasu City, Arizona, with a volume limit of 200 packages and three required delivery routes per location.
Amazon spokesperson Terrence Clark explained that this additional 'drop' of Amazon packages will make orders placed later in the day eligible for same-day delivery, expanding the company's ability to reach customers quickly.
