VA's Office of Inspector General Leverages Microsoft Copilot for Data Analysis
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Office of Inspector General (VA-OIG) has been using Microsoft Copilot to aid in its investigations, according to a recent report.
The agency uses the AI chatbot to collect data on patient care facilities run by the VA and ensure they are complying with federal law and delivering quality care.
Microsoft Copilot is used to read and analyze documents, including financial and medical records, as part of the inspection process.
A disclosure statement has been included in all inspection reports since March, stating that the AI chatbot was used to review data such as interview transcripts and physical observations.
The VA-OIG takes full responsibility for the content of its reports, with a human investigator confirming their accuracy.
