Verizon Doubles Down on AI-Powered Customer Experience with Google Cloud
Verizon and Google Cloud are deepening their partnership to bring AI-powered customer experience to the next level. The telecom giant is expanding its use of Gemini Enterprise, a contact center technology developed by Google Cloud, to handle a larger share of everyday customer interactions.
The goal is to free up human support agents for more complex and sensitive issues that require empathy and problem-solving skills. According to Alfonso Villanueva, Verizon's Chief Transformation Officer and EVP of Consumer, this shift requires working AI-first at every level. 'Serving each and every one of our customers by name requires working AI-first at every level,' he said.
The partnership also involves the modernization of enterprise data through Google Cloud's Agentic Data Cloud, which will create a single source of truth across business processes. This unified data foundation is expected to help AI agents and human advisors access a more complete view of the customer, their products, recent interactions, and potential service issues.
The collaboration extends beyond customer service, with Verizon building an autonomous network intelligence framework with Google Cloud as its data platform partner. The aim is to predict and resolve network anomalies before they affect customers, reducing pressure on service teams and protecting trust.
