Vertiv vs. Eaton: Which AI Infrastructure Stock is Right for You?
The AI infrastructure boom is driving massive investments in essential hardware for data centers. Microsoft, Meta Platforms, Amazon, and Alphabet plan to spend $732.5 billion on AI capital expenditures (capex) in 2026, with forecasts projecting $1 trillion in 2027.
Two companies benefiting from this trend are Vertiv and Eaton, which supply power and cooling systems for data centers. While both companies appeal to investors, they cater to different profiles.
Vertiv specializes in infrastructure for modern data centers, including high-density power management, chillers, and liquid cooling. The company is pursuing modular solutions like Vertiv OneCore and partnering with Nvidia to design next-generation 800V DC power architectures.
Eaton, on the other hand, is a legacy electrical supplier that has pivoted to become an integrated chip-to-grid infrastructure provider. It provides a comprehensive suite of switchgear, transformers, UPS, and liquid cooling, and made a big splash with its $9.5 billion acquisition of Boyd Thermal.
