Joseph P. Costello, an 81-year-old computer repair technician from Billerica, Massachusetts, passed away on September 5, 2026, after a period of declining health at Lowell General Hospital.

Born in Chelsea on April 25, 1945, Costello was raised in Charlestown and moved to Billerica in 1968. He worked for several companies, including Honeywell and Wang, and traveled extensively throughout his career, visiting Hawaii, Australia, Eastern Europe, and parts of the Far East.

Costello's family described him as a man with many interests, including playing chess, shooting pool, and playing blackjack. In his younger years, he was an avid skier and a fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was also a former member of the Billerica Elks.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Lowell General Hospital, as well as the Life Care Center of North Billerica and the compassionate staff at Billerica Crossing who cared for Costello during his illness. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
