Veteran Fred Tapia Sr. Passes Away at Age 88

Northglenn, Colorado resident Fred Tapia Sr., an 88-year-old man, passed away on July 29, 2026. Born in Cokedale, Colorado to Chris and Alice Tapia on July 26, 1938, he earned various degrees and certificates after attending Cathedral High School.

Tapia served as a Surveyor in the Marines before starting a career in technology at IBM for 25 years. He continued working as a computer programmer for Honeywell and EDS upon leaving IBM.

In his free time, Tapia enjoyed driving for Hertz after retiring from his programming roles. He was also an active member of the community and held several positions including Councilman for the City of Northglenn, President of the Northglenn Jaycees, and a member of the Chicano Caucus.
