Veteran Michael Allen Dies at 77 After Prolific Corporate Finance Career

Michael Joseph Allen, a 77-year-old from Dataw Island, SC, passed away on August 4, 2026, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Born in Omaha, NE, on April 14, 1949, to Margaret Moron Allen and Milton Harvey Allen, Michael enlisted in the Marine Corps after attending Notre Dame University for a year.

He became a pilot and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant stationed in Beaufort after six years of service. Before returning to finish his education at Washington University in St. Louis, he worked as an Air Traffic Controller with a BA in economics and an MBA in finance.

Allen's career spanned multiple industries, including corporate finance, where he held positions at The Procter & Gamble Company, Playtex Products, Inc., and Volo Aviation in Stratford CT. As CFO of Volo Aviation, he completed his career before retiring to Beaufort SC with his wife Jane Wooten.
