A Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 overshot the runway at Munich Airport on August 15, causing concern among passengers. The plane, registered VN-A867, was carrying 287 people, including 271 passengers and 16 crew members, when it took off from the airport's northern runway.

According to new footage, the aircraft accelerated towards the end of the 4000-meter runway before finally lifting off. However, its tail struck the ground as it became airborne about 120 meters beyond the end of the runway.

Passengers described the ordeal as terrifying, with one woman telling German media that they feared for their lives. 'We thought this was the end of us,' she said.

The plane continued to circle for over an hour before returning to Munich Airport and landing safely at about 4pm local time. Emergency crews were waiting on the runway, and footage shows smoke coming from the main landing gear.
