Vintage IBM Computer Revived from Garage

An IBM 1401 computer from the 1960s has been restored to its former glory after being rescued from a garage. The machine, which was one of the first commercial computers, whirs and clicks away again just as it did when it was first used.

The computer was refurbished by Mark Richards, who had previously worked on restoring other vintage machines. It took him several years to complete the project, but the end result is a fully functional IBM 1401 that can perform calculations and even run old programs.

The IBM 1401 was a significant machine in its time, with over 4,000 units sold worldwide between 1959 and 1970. It was used for tasks such as accounting and data processing, and was known for its reliability and accuracy.
