Visa and ISG Unveil Passwordless Digital Payment Solution
Visa and In-Solutions Global (ISG) have jointly launched Visa Payment Passkey, a passwordless digital payment solution that uses device biometrics or a PIN for authentication instead of one-time passwords (OTPs).
The launch took place at the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai, where representatives from ISG, Visa, Indian Bank, Union Bank of India, and Indian Overseas Bank showcased the capability live.
With Visa Payment Passkey, banks and merchants on ISG's payments platform can offer FIDO-based authentication for card-not-present transactions, replacing SMS OTPs with a faster sign-in process integrated into the checkout flow. This approach aims to reduce fraud and cart abandonment while aligning with regulatory directions on strong customer authentication.
Visa Payment Passkey is built on the FIDO Alliance and W3C WebAuthn-based standard, which is already adopted across major platforms. The solution allows issuers to modernize authentication without rebuilding their existing infrastructure, improving authentication success ratios and easing adoption for cardholders and merchants alike.
