Visa has appointed Adrija Banerjee as its head of AI practice for North America, taking on the role at senior director level. Banerjee will lead Visa's AI efforts in the region from San Francisco, where she starts her new position in August 2026.

Banerjee joins Visa after serving as a director at American Express for over two years. Prior to that, she spent nearly seven years at McKinsey & Company, working on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and risk management projects. Her experience spans consulting, financial services, and AI, providing a strong foundation for leading Visa's AI agenda in North America.

Banerjee holds a Master of Statistics degree from the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata and previously completed a BSc Honours degree in statistics from Lady Brabourne College. Her academic background is rooted in statistics, which will likely serve her well in her new role at Visa.
