Visa Buys BioCatch for $2.4 Billion to Bolster Security Solutions
Visa stock is climbing today after the company announced it will acquire behavioral fraud intelligence firm BioCatch for $2.4 billion in cash from funds advised by Permira and other shareholders.
The deal, which complements Visa's existing cyber, fraud, risk, and security solutions, aims to help clients better protect themselves from account takeovers, scams, money mules, and application fraud.
BioCatch has developed AI and machine learning-based solutions that analyze thousands of behavioral, device, and network signals to detect fraud and distinguish legitimate users from fraudsters in real time.
According to BioCatch, its platform analyzed $17.2 trillion in transactions in 2025 alone and helped prevent $4 billion in fraudulent activity.
The acquisition is seen as a strategic move by Visa to deepen its commitment to safeguarding the payments ecosystem, which has been investing over $13 billion in technology and infrastructure since 2018.
