Visa has announced its intention to acquire BioCatch, a fraud intelligence provider, for $2.4 billion in cash from investment firm Permira and other investors.

The deal aims to bolster Visa's existing cybersecurity offerings and help clients protect themselves against increasingly complex threats.

BioCatch helps detect fraud by analyzing signals such as keystrokes, touch gestures, and device handling, serving over 350 banking clients in 21 countries.

This is the latest effort by Visa to beef up its cybersecurity capabilities, following a $2.65 billion acquisition of threat intelligence company Recorded Future in 2024 and a $13 billion investment in technology and infrastructure over the last five years.
