Visa has acquired BioCatch for $2.4 billion to enhance its security offerings and combat AI-driven fraud.

The acquisition brings BioCatch's behavioral intelligence technology to Visa, enabling financial institutions to detect scams, account takeovers, money mule activity, and application fraud in real-time before payments are made.

BioCatch uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to analyze thousands of behavioral, device, and network signals, including keystrokes, touch gestures, and device interactions, to distinguish legitimate users from fraudsters.

Visa's President of Value-Added Services, Andrew Torre, stated that account takeovers and scams cost the global economy more than $1 trillion annually, with AI making such attacks more sophisticated and scalable.
