Visa Pushes Deeper into AI Payments with New Framework and Onchain Credit Tools
Visa is making significant moves to integrate its core payments network into AI agents and digital assets. The company, along with Mastercard and Ant International, has agreed to work on a shared Know Your Agent interoperability framework. This will enable smoother interactions between traditional payment systems and emerging technologies.
The framework will address trust, risk management, and working-capital access for new payment models. Visa is also developing onchain credit tools that use blockchain infrastructure alongside its own VisaNet data. These tools aim to make stablecoin-linked card programs easier to fund and scale.
Analysts believe that this push into AI agent identity frameworks will help Visa stay relevant in commerce flows, but does not remove the structural risk of pressure from regulators, merchants, and new payment alternatives. The key catalyst for expanding value-added services lies in the execution of higher-margin services like risk tools and onchain products.
Visa's forecast path assumes revenue of $61.1 billion and earnings of $33.3 billion by 2029. This growth profile relies on analysts' modeling of 11.2% yearly revenue growth and an earnings increase of about $10.9 billion from current earnings of $22.4 billion.
