Visa Shareholder Sells Massive Stake Amidst Cautious Market
Edgestream Partners L.P., an investment firm, sold 6,708 shares of Visa Inc. ($V) in the first quarter, reducing its stake by 80.8%. This means that Edgestream now owns only 1,593 shares worth $481,000.
This is not an isolated incident as other institutional investors and hedge funds have been buying and selling V stock. Clayton Financial Group LLC, for example, grew its position in Visa by 446.2% in the fourth quarter and now owns 71 shares valued at $25,000.
Visa's underlying business momentum remains solid with revenue of $11.63 billion, up 14.4% year over year, and adjusted earnings exceeding analyst expectations. However, analysts continue to flag rising technology costs and consumer-spending pressures as well as the company's substantial capital commitments to BioCatch and stablecoin infrastructure.
Wall Street analysts have mixed views on V, with Erste Group Bank raising shares from a 'hold' rating to a 'buy' rating in a research report on Monday, July 27th. Barclays also began coverage on V with an 'overweight' rating and a $420 price target for the company.
