Visa Taps East Africa Veteran Anne Kinuthia-Otieno for Key Role

Visa has appointed Anne Kinuthia-Otieno as Vice President and Head of its operations in East Africa, effective August 4, 2026. The appointment is a significant move for the company, which aims to expand its presence in the region.

Kinuthia-Otieno brings extensive experience to her new role, having previously led Airtel Money Kenya from September 2021 to March 2026. During her tenure, the mobile money service's share of active subscriptions in Kenya increased from 3.1% to 10.9%, according to data from the Communications Authority of Kenya.

Before joining Airtel Money Kenya, Kinuthia-Otieno held various senior roles at Absa and Barclays Bank, including retail banking, SME services, product development, and risk management. The appointment comes as Airtel Africa prepares to list its mobile money business on the London Stock Exchange in the second half of 2026.
