Wall Street Stocks Slip on Rising Treasury Yields, Ongoing Iran Conflict
Stocks on Wall Street closed modestly lower on Tuesday as rising Treasury yields put pressure on the market.
The S&P 500 fell 0.2%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.3% and the Nasdaq composite slid 0.1%.
Nvidia, the most influential stock in the market, lost 0.7% after initially gaining ground. Broadcom, however, rose 1.6%.
The increase in Treasury yields was fueled by rising oil prices, which have been driven up by the ongoing US-Iran conflict. The price of Brent crude oil fell 1.7% to settle at $96.16 a barrel.
