Retail giant Walmart (NASDAQ: WMT) is set to report its Q2 earnings on Thursday before market open. The company's revenue growth has been steady, with a 7.3% year-on-year increase last quarter. Analysts are expecting a 5.3% year-on-year revenue growth in the current quarter, which is in line with the same period last year.
In the non-discretionary retail segment, peers such as Grocery Outlet and Sprouts have already reported their Q2 results. While Grocery Outlet delivered a 1.1% year-on-year revenue growth beating analysts' expectations by 2.1%, Sprouts reported revenues up 4.7% in line with consensus estimates.
Walmart's share price has been steadily increasing, up 3% over the last month. With an average analyst price target of $137.93 compared to its current share price of $115.53, investors may be looking for a boost from the earnings report.
