Walmart Raises Fiscal 2027 Outlook After Strong Second Quarter
Walmart Inc. raised its fiscal 2027 outlook after second-quarter operating income rose sharply. The company's revenue reached $187.9 billion, up 5.9%, or 5.1% in constant currency. Global eCommerce sales grew 23%, advertising grew 38%, and membership income increased 17%. The company said tariff refunds received in the quarter, alongside an improved business mix, drove the gain. It is reinvesting those proceeds in customer pricing and experience. The retailer now guides to constant-currency net sales growth of 4.0% to 5.0% and adjusted operating income growth of 7.0% to 8.5%, with adjusted earnings per share of $2.80 to $2.87.
Walmart's CEO, John Furner, led the company in reporting its second-quarter results. The retailer expects net sales growth of 3.0% to 3.75%, operating income growth of 2.0% to 4.0%, and adjusted earnings per share of $0.62 to $0.64 in the third quarter.
