Walmart Rolls Out Tap-To-Pay Options from Google Pay and Apple Pay
Walmart, one of the largest retailers in the US, has announced that it will begin accepting Google Pay and Apple Pay as tap-to-pay options at its stores. This move is a significant step forward for the company, which had previously only accepted its own Walmart Pay system.
The new payment option will be available starting August 24 at select Walmart stores and Sam's Club locations. By the end of this year, the company plans to expand support to all of its US stores, with gas stations following by mid-2027.
According to Google, the integration of Google Pay is part of a larger partnership between the two companies. The tech giant claims that tap-to-pay using Google Pay can save customers time during checkout and provide a more secure buying experience.
