Walmart Stake Reduced By Compass Capital Management
Compass Capital Management Inc., a financial institution, has reduced its stake in Walmart Inc. (NASDAQ:WMT) by selling 25,681 shares of the retailer's stock in the second quarter. The fund now owns 466,507 shares of WMT, worth $52,837,000, which accounts for 3.2% of Compass Capital Management's portfolio.
The sale reduced Walmart to the 13th largest position in Compass Capital Management's holdings. This move comes as Walmart reported a strong second-quarter earnings performance, with adjusted EPS of $0.81 beating analyst estimates by $0.07. The retailer also saw revenue rise 5.9% year over year to $187.94 billion.
However, some analysts have expressed caution about the broader U.S. consumer market, citing higher gas and living costs as potential headwinds for Walmart's sales growth. In response to these concerns, management has raised its fiscal-year earnings outlook and plans to use approximately $2.9 billion in tariff refunds to support lower prices.
