Walmart Tries Again with New Women's Fashion Brand Scenario
Walmart is launching a new women's fashion brand called Scenario as part of its efforts to compete more effectively with Amazon and other conventional clothing retailers.
The brand will offer hundreds of items, including blouses, denim shirts, bags, and accessories, priced around $25. The goal is to attract youthful buyers who want style without sacrificing price.
Walmart's US comparable sales excluding fuel climbed 2.6% in its current quarter, compared with 4.1% in the prior period and below market estimates. Fashion is seen as a key opportunity for growth outside of food and household needs.
The brand targets women aged 35 looking for more attractive options than Walmart's existing essentials. If Scenario catches on, it may not only drive garment sales but also help refine Walmart's product mix and give customers another reason to spend beyond the supermarket aisle.
