Walmart Unveils Affordable Fashion Brand to Take on Amazon
Walmart has launched Scenario, a new women's clothing brand priced at around $25, in an attempt to attract younger shoppers and compete with e-commerce giant Amazon. The brand targets women aged around 35 who want more stylish options than Walmart's existing clothing brands.
Scenario is launching with hundreds of products, including blouses, denim shirts, and faux-leather bags. This move marks a departure from Walmart's traditional focus on affordable basics such as jeans, T-shirts, leggings, and socks.
Denise Incandela, Walmart U.S. senior vice president for fashion, stated that the company knows it does not meet all of its customers' clothing needs. The launch of Scenario is an effort to address this gap in their offerings.
The stock price of Walmart rose over 1% after the announcement, trading around $104.92 on Monday. This minor rebound comes after an 8.45% decline over the past five days.
