Walt Disney’s Historic Plane Open to Public at Palm Springs Air Museum
The Palm Springs Air Museum is opening Walt Disney’s restored Grumman Gulfstream I airplane, nicknamed "Mickey Mouse One," to the general public for the first time. Previously, only D23 members had access to the restored interior, which was showcased at the D23 Expo in 2022 before being moved to the museum. Now, non-members can join five exclusive two-hour tours, featuring guided interior tours, light refreshments, and keynote presentations from speakers connected to the aircraft and Walt Disney Company.
Each tour includes a limited-edition T-shirt for attendees. Tickets are priced at $65 for general admission and $50 for Palm Springs Air Museum members, with free entry for kids 12 and under when accompanied by a paid adult. The event dates and featured speakers have been announced, including Mark Malone, Rebecca Cline, Ed Ovalle, and Bob Gurr.
The Grumman Gulfstream I is historically significant as the plane Walt Disney used for scouting missions that led to the establishment of Walt Disney World. For years, the aircraft was visible to Disney fans at the Disney-MGM Studios boneyard, where it could be seen from the Backlot Studio Tour before its restoration.
