Laurin White, an interior designer with 16 years of experience, has shared her top tip for transforming homes from drab to cozy. According to White, it's all about the temperature of light bulbs.

'You may use a fluorescent light for something like a doctor’s office, but that is not the temperature […] that you want your house,' she explained. 'I suggest everyone seek to use 2700 Kelvin, 3000 Kelvin, but no brighter than that.'

White believes that using warm-toned lightbulbs with a lower Kelvin rating can make a huge difference in how a room feels. She recommends purchasing these bulbs for just a few bucks at stores like Walmart, Home Depot, and Lowe’s.

'You don’t want to do the bright light or the bright daylight, and you just have to make sure to read the right label,' she said.
