Waymo Brings Autonomous Taxis to Singapore in 2027

Waymo, Google's electric vehicle taxi company, is expanding to Singapore in 2027. The company plans to establish operations and move patiently before launching its fully autonomous ride-hailing service through the Waymo app by 2028.

This announcement comes as Grab, a rival ride-hailing firm, is also planning to extend its initial pilot service with WeRide, a Chinese competitor of Waymo. The addition of Waymo to Singapore's ride-hailing scene makes things more competitive and raises questions about potential cooperation between the two companies.
