American Express stock has been given a USD 415 target by Wells Fargo analyst Donald Fandetti, who reiterated a Buy rating on September 30, 2026. The latest trading picture is more cautious, with Lang & Schwarz quoting EUR 268.35 for the stock on October 1, 2026.

The target set by Fandetti gives investors a concrete reference point, while also indicating that American Express has potential for growth. The company's Q2 2026 earnings per share were USD 4.53 against a forecast of USD 4.40, resulting in a positive difference of USD 0.13.

American Express management raised full-year revenue growth guidance to 10 percent and maintained earnings-per-share guidance at USD 17.30-17.90. The company is directing part of its operating outperformance towards customer acquisition and other growth initiatives instead of lifting the earnings-per-share range.
