West Family Investments and Others Bet Big on Chevron Amid Oil Discovery
West Family Investments Inc., a financial institution, has made a new investment in Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX). In its recent disclosure to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), it was revealed that West Family purchased 7,766 shares of CVX's stock during the second quarter, valued at approximately $1.29 million.
This is not the only significant investment made in Chevron recently. Several other hedge funds have also acquired new stakes or increased their existing positions in the company. SSI Investment Management LLC bought a new stake worth about $239,000, while Tacita Capital Inc purchased a new stake valued at around $47,000.
The recent investments in Chevron come as the company has experienced positive developments in its business. It was announced that Chevron had made an oil and gas condensate discovery at the 105-4X well in offshore Angola's Block 0. The discovery is significant, with a hydrocarbon column exceeding 600 meters and more than 90 meters of net pay.
Chevron has also been involved in partnerships to explore new opportunities. Equinor agreed to acquire a 17.4% interest in Chevron-operated exploration licence PEL 90 offshore Namibia. This partnership aims to share exploration costs while retaining operatorship and reducing financial exposure ahead of a planned 2026 drilling program.
