WestJet Completes All-Economy 737 Transformation
WestJet has completed its three-year transformation of all-economy Boeing 737 aircraft. The airline's final 189-seat all-economy plane, which was operating in a different configuration, is now undergoing retrofitting to meet WestJet's new standards.
The move comes after the airline merged with Sunwing Airlines and took on former Lynx Air aircraft. This integration has allowed WestJet to unify its narrowbody fleet, creating a stronger foundation for delivering exceptional service and a seamless travel experience.
According to Samantha Taylor, WestJet Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Experience Officer, 'Unifying our narrowbody fleet is an important step in delivering the reliable and welcoming experience our guests and WestJetters expect from us.'
The new cabin features 174 seats, including 12 Collins Aerospace MiQ seats in a 2-2 layout for Premium passengers. The remaining 162 Collins Pinnacle economy seats offer Extended Comfort options.
WestJet has also completed the installation of Starlink across its Boeing 737-800 and 737-8 aircraft, marketed as WestJet Wi-Fi presented by TELUS. However, the airline's 787 fleet is still awaiting this upgrade.
