WestJet Sells 27 Boeing Jets to FTAI Aviation in $500M Deal

FTAI Aviation has acquired 27 Boeing 737-700 aircraft from WestJet in a deal worth hundreds of millions. The acquisition marks the start of WestJet's retirement of its 737-700 fleet, with 17 aircraft being sold to FTAI through a sale-leaseback and 10 off-lease aircraft acquired by FTAI for its Aerospace Products business.

The 2026 SPV, FTAI's second Strategic Capital investment vehicle, purchased the 17 on-lease aircraft. This is part of a larger effort to acquire mid-life 737NG and A320ceo aircraft, following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the 2025 SPV.

The acquired off-lease aircraft will support FTAI's Aerospace Products business by expanding the supply of CFM56-7B engines and modules for Maintenance, Repair and Exchange customers. This deal demonstrates how FTAI's Strategic Capital and Aerospace Products businesses work together to offer airlines comprehensive fleet solutions.
