WestJet Uncovered Boeing 737 MAX Software Glitch Before FAA Approval
WestJet was the first airline to report an anomaly in the Boeing 737 MAX's flight computer software. The issue was discovered during an entry-into-service validation flight with a 737 MAX in 2024, conducted by WestJet pilots. According to a memo seen by Reuters, WestJet reported the anomaly to Boeing with supporting data.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) subsequently concluded a Corrective Action Review Board on the issue and deemed it safe. This decision was made after reviewing the data provided by WestJet.
