Westward Ho Demolished as Magic Kingdom Transforms Into Piston Peak

The former refreshment stand Westward Ho has been completely demolished in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom. The structure, including its roof, serving windows, and rustic Western facade, was removed, leaving a cleared site behind the construction walls lining the promenade.

The demolition is part of the ongoing transformation of the former Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island area into Piston Peak National Park, inspired by the Cars franchise. This expansion will include two attractions: an off-road rally experience through a mountainous wilderness and another unannounced attraction.

Westward Ho closed permanently on June 21 as Disney prepared to expand the construction zone. The kiosk had already been removed from the My Disney Experience map, and its webpage and operating hours were deleted from the Walt Disney World website. Construction walls were later installed around the stand, and in late July, crews removed the large 'Westward Ho Refreshments' sign and began gutting the interior before demolition.
