Why Google Maps is More Enjoyable on a PC Than Your Phone

Google Maps is often more enjoyable and efficient to use on a PC rather than a phone. Sanya Shah, a computer engineer and tech writer at How-To Geek, shares her experiences with using Google Maps on her PC for various tasks.

She prefers the larger screen to visualize maps, measure distances, and plan complicated trips. The bigger view allows her to use her mouse and keyboard instead of constantly pinching and dragging on her phone.

Shah uses Google Maps on her PC to measure distances and areas by right-clicking on a starting point and selecting 'Measure distance'. She can then click on another location to see the distance between the two points and add more points to measure longer routes or irregular shapes. This feature is surprisingly useful for tasks like tracing hiking trails' lengths or determining property boundaries.

When planning a trip, Shah finds it easier to use Google Maps on her PC due to its larger screen. She can save places to her lists as she goes and keep other travel research open in another tab while working out the route in Maps.

Shah also uses Google Maps on her PC for exploration before visiting new tourist spots, palaces, or neighborhoods. She prefers browsing photos and videos on a bigger screen using Street View and Satellite View to get a feel for the place.
