Windows 11 26H2 Rollout Expected This Week or Next
The public rollout of Windows 11 26H2 could begin as early as this week or next, in line with Microsoft's previous releases. According to Windows Latest, the evaluation ISOs for enterprises were quietly released ahead of time, which typically indicates that a major update is just around the corner.
Windows 11 26H2 shares the same underlying core as its predecessors, 24H2 and 25H2, codenamed 'Germanium.' This means that users can expect to see largely the same features, improvements, and fixes, but with different build numbers. The update is expected to take just a few minutes and one restart to finish installing on up-to-date PCs running 24H2 or 25H2.
The main reason for releasing Windows 11 26H2 is that support for versions 25H2 and 24H2 will soon be ending. Microsoft won't keep maintaining version 25H2 beyond its lifecycle, so it's releasing 26H2 with a new support window, giving users more time to prepare for the next big release.
