Windows 11 Gets Major Preview Update with 46 Quality Improvements
Microsoft has released the KB5124010 September 2026 non-security preview update for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2, with 46 changes aimed at improving user experience. The optional update includes Bluetooth improvements, support for Emoji 17.0, and a recovery remote management plug-in for extending Windows Recovery (WinRE) management capabilities.
The KB5124010 preview update adds support for using slideshow wallpapers with multiple desktops, introduces Camera roll backup in Settings, and provides additional gesture controls for precision touchpads. Microsoft has also fixed a known issue causing the built-in File History backup feature to fail on some Windows systems after installing security updates.
However, unlike regular cumulative updates, this monthly optional update provides only quality improvements and does not include security fixes. Users can install the KB5124010 update by opening Settings, clicking on Windows Update, and then checking for updates.
