Windows 11 Lock Screen Simplified: MSN Feed Removed by Default
Microsoft has made significant changes to the Windows 11 lock screen, removing the cluttered MSN feed and ads by default. The update, which was quietly added in the September 8 Patch Tuesday release, now shows only the Weather widget on the lock screen.
This change is a result of user feedback, as many people found the previous default experience to be overwhelming with multiple widgets showing up every time they locked their computer.
Users can still add other widgets to the lock screen from Settings > Personalization > Lock screen, but now they won't be bombarded by MSN-powered cards like Weather, Sports, Money, and traffic updates.
This is a welcome change for many users who found the previous default experience to be excessive. However, Microsoft still has work to do in making the lock screen more personal and useful, with some users expressing frustration over limitations such as the size constraint on widgets.
